5 minute Self care Routine List

1. 60-Second Breathwork (1 min)

Start your day with a quick breathing exercise to reset your nervous system and reduce stress. I have always been a string advocate of the power of breath. Breathwork is the key for all activities, be it gym workout, yoga or relaxing meditation. It is all there in the breath. Hence make breathing exercises a part of your self care routine list. If you are a busy bee, you can do this in a car, in the middle of an office meeting or even in a mall or public transport.

Try this simple pattern:

  • Inhale deeply for 4 seconds
  • Hold your breath for 4 seconds
  • Exhale slowly for 4 seconds
  • Hold your breath for 4 seconds

Repeat this cycle a few times. Deep breathing can calm your mind, improve focus, and enhance oxygen flow, setting a positive tone for the rest of your day.

  • Hydration with Intention (30 sec)Before you dive into your morning coffee, give your body the hydration it needs. Start your day with a glass of warm water to support digestion and detoxification. Enhance it by adding:
  • A squeeze of lemon for Vitamin C and digestion support
  • A pinch of pink salt for electrolyte balance
  • Fresh mint leaves for a refreshing taste
  • Drinking water mindfully can make you feel more refreshed and energized throughout the day.

2. Mini Stretch & Release (1 min)

A quick stretching routine can relieve stiffness and improve posture, especially if you sit for long hours. Try these simple moves:

  • Neck rolls to ease tension
  • Shoulder shrugs to release stress
  • Forward fold to stretch your back and hamstrings
  • Arm and wrist circles to prevent stiffness
  • Taking just a minute to stretch can boost circulation, increase flexibility, and keep your body feeling agile.

3. Gratitude & Affirmations (1 min)

Starting or ending your day with gratitude can shift your mindset and improve your overall well-being. Take a moment to:

  • Write down three things you’re grateful for
  • Say a positive affirmation out loud, such as: “I am calm and in control of my day.” “I am worthy of health and happiness.”
  • Practising gratitude and affirmations can help rewire your brain for positivity and resilience.

4. Mindful Eating or Sipping (1.5 min)

Instead of rushing through your meals or drinks, take a mindful moment to enjoy them truly:

Before taking your first sip of coffee or tea, pause and take a deep breath
Savor the taste, texture, and aroma
Chew your food slowly and appreciate the nourishment it provides
Mindful eating enhances digestion, prevents overeating, and cultivates a sense of presence in your daily routine.

5. Bringing It All Together

The best part about these wellness rituals is that they can be stacked together.
For example:

  • Practice breathwork while drinking your morning water
  • Do a quick stretch before writing your gratitude list
  • Sip your coffee mindfully while affirming a positive thought

These micro-habits may seem small, but over time, they create lasting changes in your well-being. The key is consistency of this self care routine list—just five minutes a day can transform your energy, mindset, and overall health.
